Welcome to Highland Fling Nature Reserve

A family-run sanctuary in the Kingdom of Eswatini, where conservation, birding and community come together to protect one of Eswatini’s hidden wild places.

FROM UNTOUCHED LAND TO PROTECTED LEGACY

Highland Fling Nature Reserve is a dream coming to life—an eco-friendly sanctuary on the boundary of the remote Manzimnyame Protected Landscape in Eswatini.

This is a reserve in the making—raw, wild, and full of promise. Our vision is to restore this pristine landscape into a thriving sanctuary by reintroducing native plants and  carefully creating habitats that will become a haven for birdlife and biodiversity.

Highland Fling covers over 250 hectares (620 acres) of privately owned land on the boundary of the Manzimnyame Protected Landscape—a rugged and remote corner of Eswatini not easily reached by road.

Flowing through the reserve is the Usdelela River, a perennial stream that tumbles through a forested gorge, forming beautiful permanent pools along its path. North of the river, the land rises steeply into cliffs and dense vegetation, accessible only on foot.

“This is a land untouched and we’re building something meaningful here—one step at a time.”

Discover the SPLENDOR of Highland Fling

This reserve is where all our passions come together—conservation, culture, community, and the wild. When the opportunity to buy this land came up, it felt like the perfect next chapter. We’re starting small—but we have big dreams. And we want to share them with you.

Birdwatching

With over 227 bird species recorded in the area—and so much still unexplored—this is a rare chance to discover the unknown. For any birder, the thrill of being among the first to explore this undocumented landscape is an invitation too exciting to resist.

Nature Trails

Explore singletrack trails that wind through rugged ridgelines, forested ravines, and thick bushveld. Designed for all levels of hikers, each path offers a mix of challenge, beauty, and adventure—perfect for those who hike not just for the destination, but for the journey itself.

Community Impact

For over a decade, our nonprofit has supported nine local churches and more than 200 families each month. From delivering water during times of drought to supplying fencing that protects vegetable gardens from livestock, we provide hands-on help where it’s most needed—building resilience across the community.
